Education Initiatives
Research Mentorship and Field School Fellowship Programs
As part of our mission, the Field School Foundation creates intensive mentorship opportunities for students in environmental science. These programs can include training in field science skills or participation in social research including survey and ethnographic work. Students create and oversee their own research projects, and learn to create meaningful, engaging outreach about their research. Fellowships are made to select early career students each year based on a competitive process. |
Building Science Capacity for Educators Program
This teacher-focused program includes participation in hands-on research experiences for educators, focused on building science capacity and providing support for in-classroom environmental education. Materials including photos, videos, and data sets are made available to teachers to incorporate real-life examples into student learning. |
Junior Environmental Scientist Programs
Shorter, age-appropriate versions of Field School's hands-on science courses are made available at significantly reduced cost to younger students. Students help to collect real scientific data and measurements and learn about our research. Several of these programs are offered each year in collaboration with our wonderful education partners, including Terranaut Club, Girls, Inc., and the 4-H club. |
